Tips on Organizing and Cleaning Kitchen Cabinets

The first thing the Queen suggests is to replace chemical-filled cleansers and cleaning supplies with environmentally-friendly products. Here are some products that will save cash and eliminate toxins from your home:

  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Club soda
  • Lemon juice

For cleaning the shelves, remove everything first then dip a soft cloth in some warm water and wipe the shelf. For more difficult cleanups (spilled honey, for example) use a soft cloth with some water on it, sprinkle on some baking soda and wipe well.

If you have bags with products that are prone to spillage — flour, for example — pour the contents into a plastic container with a top that closes. This will eliminate spilling.

Place similar items (crackers and cookies, for example) on the same shelf.

Be sure to match the proper containers with their lids to eliminate clutter.

Wrap cords around appliances to prevent tangles.

Wipe down the outside of wood cabinets or pantries with a very thin coat of car wax. Dry and then buff for a beautiful shine.
