Go-to color palette and why it works:

I just love hot pink, orange and cream together. They’re so full of energy and give off an undeniably happy vibe.
From where do you find color inspiration?

Mostly it’s instinct, and I just visualize it in my mind. However, I am inspired by a number of things: movies (I Am Love, Wings of A Dove, A Bigger Splash), photography (most recently by the work of Eliot Elisofon), as well as fashion (Rodarte and current Gucci collections specifically), Downton Abbey, vintage textiles, and nature.

What other color combinations have you been dying to try out on a client?

Saffron, fuchsia, jade green, black and rust. The idea came from an Eliot Elisofon photo I saw.

What advice do you have for a color lover who wants every room to be in a different scheme?
I learned this from my mother – if you use a lot of one color in a room, it’s nice to carry a bit of it over to the adjacent space through a paint color, a pillow or a painting. It can really be used anywhere as long as it’s there somewhere!

Let’s play a quick game. You’re the decider on the 2017 Pantone Color(s) of the Year. What do you choose?
Periwinkle and Apricot, just because I want to use them, and I think people crave color!

Where are some good places to add splashes of color to the home?
I use color everywhere! I love it! Some of my favorite spots are on ceilings (especially with wallpaper!), cabinetry, window/door trim, pillows (of course!) and lamp shades.
