Compared to a modern style, retro style seems to be more welcomed by high-end renovation, its heavy sense of calm, restrained performance so that the living space would be less assertive.
If you love all things vintage, make sure your bathroom is in keeping with the rest of your home with a retro design. One of the most popular trends of the past decade that just keeps on growing, vintage style is easy to create – but it does need to be well executed.
Pick your vintage bathroom style: Country chic with clashing floral prints and feminine accessories, paired-back neutrals with shabby chic details, or pretty pastels with a modern edge. Each of these themes will give an entirely different result, but they will all look fabulous in any vintage-themed home.
Go bold and opt for ditsy flower designs on busy wallpaper, teamed with clashing floral tiles and floral accessories for an ultra girly look that will become your haven from the outside world.
Or choose something a bit more grand, with wallpaper in a subtle flocked pattern and pastel coloured furniture to give the room a more grown up feel. Darkly varnished floorboards will stop the room from looking too twee.
If you’re looking to upcycle, try using furniture in unique ways. Old metal lockers make great storage cabinets for all of your spare towels and toiletries. Or framed vintage posters will make great wall hangings for a kitsch, 1950s vibe.
If you want to keep your minimalist white bathroom and just add a few vintage bathroom accessories, try adding a coloured storage unit to your room. Stack vintage soaps in a tin, or on the windowsill for a subtle but glamorous touch.
