One of the most useful accessories in any nursery is a rocking chair, and a little paint and some green-and-white fabric can improve the look of an old brown chair. Beside the rocking chair, a handy white-wicker three-tier stand can hold bottles, diapers or anything the new baby may need.
The changing table, another nursery must-have, can be fashioned out of a thrift-shop chest of drawers that has been painted white. Green plastic knobs with the look of old glass are added for a touch of color, and the bumper pad on top is covered in the green-and-white gingham with toile welting.
The crib is a work of art: a white sleigh bed with removable rails (for the not-too-distant future, when the baby will be old enough for a junior bed). Two different sizes of gingham form cover the bumpers and the bedskirt; the smaller check has more of the toile welting.
In one corner of the room is an overstuffed, slipcovered club chair –perfect seating for one parent while the other is rocking the baby. The chair includes a fluffy, toile-covered pillow for added comfort.
