If you’re considering a DIY deck project or are in the market for a contractor to provide you with the deck of your dreams, you may want to peruse some of the custom deck options available to make your new outdoor living space truly spectacular.
Custom decks can range from simple, single-step designs to elaborate, multi-tiered monstrosities with amenities like fire pits, pools and saunas. There are a few custom deck options that resurface consistently due to their attractiveness, utility and added value.
One place to start when considering custom deck options is the railing. Standard wooden slats are fine, but what about a curved design, or combining aluminum piping with wood, for a sleek, modern touch?
Moving to the interior of the deck, benches are hugely popular custom deck features because of their versatility and ease of installation. Similarly, built-in planters can be a great touch to add color and life to your deck.
Extend your deck’s usefulness past sundown with some accent lighting—kerosene lamps, candles or string lights can work, or you can go with a full outdoor lighting kit, set on a timer or even powered by the sun.
Finally, add a focal point to your custom deck design—a fireplace or fire pit, dining or informal seating area can welcome guests to your outdoor space in style.
