Nursery Works

We bought the Sleepytime Rocker as an alternative to a glider, thinking that the rocker would have a longer lifespan in our home. A few years from now when we’re done rocking in the nursery, its ash legs and light seat will coordinate nicely with our living room furniture.

I love the colorful patterns used in the handmade bedding from this Etsy shop, and if the item you want isn’t already stocked, you can select a fabric to have your own sheet, cover, bed skirt or blanket custom made. A few faves? Multicolor bears, taxicabs and blue and citron fishies.

The Alma mini crib is perfect if your living space is limited. This crib takes up a smaller footprint in your home, but its stylish design and color options won’t mean you need to tuck it in a corner out of the way. Not only is it on casters for ease of transport and narrow enough to wheel through doorways, it’s also easy to fold and store away if its your secondary solution (or that crib that you leave at the babysitter’s house).

I found baby’s favorite cuddly bear at Elks & Angels. Made of Australian sheepskin, this little guy isn’t actually so little – the bear is 12″ x 10″ (and just 1″ thick), making him a cozy companion for lounging on the couch or napping in the car.

I have to list eBay because it’s a great source for out-of-the-ordinary finds both new, old, and gently used. For example, I framed a vintage rocking horse woodworking pattern for my nursery, and it’s one of my favorite pieces. It’s a good source for old puzzles (frame them if they’re too fragile to play with!), classic books, and other items that make you nostalgic for your own childhood, and you can also find deals on new modern toys and accessories too.

Aden + Anais

Aden + Anais was my favorite for swaddles with my firstborn, and the soft muslin fabrics would be perfect for crib bedding too. The dream blanket is topping my list right now – a cuddly wrap for babies that will transition to an easy piece of bedding for a bigger kid (it comes in 14 colors, so good luck narrowing it down).
